Job description

Field Service Engineers
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate activities related to installing equipment; investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment; and eliminating future operational or service difficulties
  • Install new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
  • Review and maintain records of performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives
  • Provide Customer Service and/or other personnel with hands-on technical assistance for troubleshooting and repairing equipment so as to expedite the process
  • Inspect malfunctioning and/or damaged products, determine the source of the problem, recommend corrective actions and coordinate problem resolution with the Engineering Department
  • Develop and conduct training on safe operation of equipment, as well as demonstrate skills to trainees including team members and customers

Experience/Qualifications:
  • Experience with vacuum and/or atmosphere furnaces is required
  • Prior heat treatment experience preferred
  • Electrical skills preferred (much be able to read electrical drawings and perform field wiring)
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience preferred
  • Experience with database software (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware, VacuProf), internet software, spreadsheet software and PLC programming is preferred
  • Ability to analyze reports to determine trends and recommend modifications; provide a communication link between the customer and company; and keep daily records, such as service reports, expenses and travel schedule

Education:
  • Two-year college or technical school degree, or two to four years of related experience and/or training, is required
  • Advanced technical education, or combination of education and experience, will be considered
  • Experience in closely related equipment requiring the same skillsets will be considered
