THE LAST 30 FEET MATTER 
The Apex Grille at M1 Concourse's X Center is hiring Food Runners / Service Support for our opening team. A chef may spend hours preparing a dish. You're part of making sure it reaches the guest quickly, accurately and looking exactly as intended.  You'll learn our menu, table and seat positions, communicate with cooks and servers, deliver food professionally, maintain service areas and help the entire team stay ahead of the dining room.  We're looking for energy, awareness, urgency and composure.  Restaurant experience is helpful but isn't required for the right person. This can be an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn professional hospitality and grow into additional restaurant positions.  You don't have to know everything on Day One.  You do need to want to learn.

JOB SUMMARY
The X Center Apex Grille Service Support-Runner is responsible for supporting accurate, timely and polished food service while helping maintain table readiness and overall dining-room execution. This position serves as the primary connection between the culinary and restaurant service teams by monitoring completed orders, verifying presentation and order details and delivering food to the correct tables and guests. The Service Support-Runner also supports pre-bussing, table resets, service-station organization and other restaurant needs when food-running volume permits. The X Center Apex Grille Service Support-Runner shall represent M1 Concourse with the highest level of professionalism and decorum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists with large-party arrangements, including table positioning, place settings, service-station preparation, equipment staging, resets and breakdowns. 
  • Clears, cleans and resets tables promptly and according to established service standards. 
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with Servers, Bartenders, Hosts, Bussers, culinary personnel and other Team Members regarding table needs, guest requests and service priorities. 
  • Completes assigned opening, operating, closing side work, including setup, cleaning, stocking, organization and breakdown. 
  • Completes event breakdown and ensures equipment, serviceware and supplies are returned to designated locations and stored cleanly, safely and accurately. 
  • Completes event, buffet and service-station setup according to the approved function plan and management direction. 
  • Completes terrace setup, including furniture positioning, service-station stocking, according to the operating or event plan. 
  • Completes weather-related terrace breakdowns, including protecting, relocating, storing and reestablishing furniture, serviceware and supplies. 
  • Confirms that all required condiments, sauces, utensils and accompaniments are delivered with each order. 
  • Delivers food and appropriate service items to simulator, entertainment and other designated guest areas while maintaining accuracy, presentation, temperature and safety. 
  • Delivers food promptly and safely to the correct table and guest, coordinates appropriate course timing and professionally announces each dish. 
  • Follows established procedures for allergy-designated orders and refers questions regarding ingredients, allergens, preparation methods and dietary accommodations to the assigned Server or manager. 
  • Handles plates, trays, glassware, serviceware, serving equipment safely to protect food quality, temperature and presentation. 
  • Maintains and stocks service stations with flatware, glassware, plates, napkins, condiments, trays and other required supplies. 
  • Maintains compliance with M1 Concourse policies, Apex Grille procedures and applicable food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety requirements while performing other restaurant, event and operational duties as assigned.
  • Maintains dining-room cleanliness, keeps travel paths clear and promptly addresses or reports spills, obstructions, broken serviceware and other safety concerns. 
  • Maintains tables throughout service by clearing and pre-bussing finished plates, glassware and service items without disrupting the guest experience. 
  • Monitors the kitchen pass and coordinates with the expediter, culinary Team Members and Servers regarding completed orders, pending items, course timing and delivery priorities. 
  • Polishes flatware, glassware and other serviceware and ensures condiments remain clean, organized, stocked and guest-ready. 
  • Prioritizes service-support activities that remove non-selling tasks from Servers and allow them to focus on guest engagement, recommendations, order taking and sales. 
  • Refills water and assists with the delivery of nonalcoholic beverages and other appropriate table-support needs. 
  • Responds professionally to reasonable guest requests, communicates needs outside the position’s authority to the appropriate Server or manager, promptly reports food-quality concerns, equipment issues, shortages and unsafe conditions. 
  • Stages, loads, unloads and safely transports catering equipment, food, serviceware and supplies between storage, kitchen, vehicles and event locations. 
  • Supports catering and private events through food transport, food running, buffet or station replenishment, clearing and general service assistance. 
  • Supports terrace service through food running, bussing, table maintenance, clearing and resetting. 
  • Verifies each order for the correct table number, seat position, item count, modifications, requested temperatures, allergy designations, accompaniments and overall presentation. 
  • Performs all other duties as may be required and assigned.
