WX is positioned as a strategic, culture-shaping function tied to talent attraction and retention, not traditional facilities management.

About The Opportunity

As the Assistant Director of Workplace Experience in Reston, you are the operational leader responsible for the full workplace experience at College Board's Reston, Virginia office. You own day-to-day strategy and service delivery for a location with distinct operational needs -youleadandare supported bythe Reston Coordinator, own vendor relationships and budget for your location, and ensure the Reston community feels as connected and well-served as any College Board office.

In This Role, You Will

Reston Operations Leadership & Service Excellence (35%)

  • Own day-to-day operational strategy and service delivery for the Reston office, ensuringa consistentlyexcellent experience for all employees and visitors.

  • Serve asprimarypoint of contact for property management, managing the building relationship including escalations, maintenance requests, and building communications.

  • Oversee the vendor-managed security program including guard scheduling, performance monitoring, and escalation protocols.

  • Manage meeting and eventlogisticsincluding large-scale gatherings, leadership visits, and cross-organizational events hosted in Reston.

  • Manage the Reston office technology ecosystem including the workspace booking platform and conferenceroomAV systems.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security protocols; serve as office emergency coordinator.

Workplace Programming & Employee Engagement (25%)

  • Design and execute the Reston workplace programming strategy including holiday celebrations, cultural events, team luncheons, and welcome experiences for hybrid visitors.

  • Manage the office snack and beverage program including vendorrelationship, inventory oversight, and budget.

  • Develop programming calendar aligned with organizational priorities and employee feedback.

  • Coordinate with NYC and PR counterparts to share best practices andmaintainconsistent programming standards.

Vendor Management & Budget Stewardship (15%)

  • Manage all Reston vendor relationships (snack and beverage, security, property management, janitorial, catering, office supplies, group lunch ordering) with documented SLAs and quarterly performance reviews.

  • Own the Reston WX operational budget, trackingspendand flagging variances proactively.

  • Evaluate new vendor opportunities and make recommendations toDirector.

  • Process and approve invoices andpurchaseorders withindelegatedauthority.

Data Collection, Synthesis & Reporting (10%)

  • Collect and synthesize Reston workplace data (spaceutilization, visitor logs, meeting volume, service requests, event attendance) into monthly reports for Director.

  • Identifytrends and translate data into actionable recommendations for space optimization, programming, and service improvements.

  • Support Director in building the unified cross-location data dashboard by providing consistent,accurateReston inputs.

Workplace Experience Team Leadership - Reston (15%)

  • Serve as the senior WX presence in Reston, setting the standard for service quality and operational judgment that theCoordinatorworks alongside daily.

  • Maintain clear primary/backup/support responsibility lines with theCoordinator, aligned to therolecharter, so ownership of every workstream is unambiguous.

  • Share context, guidance, and real-time feedback thatbuildtheCoordinator'sautonomy in routine operations, escalatingdevelopmentor performance observations to the Director.

  • Champion the Coordinator's access to the tools, training, and day-to-day support needed to deliver excellent frontline service.

About You

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a hands-on, service-delivery or operations role, with backgrounds in hospitality, retail, food service, facilities coordination, or a similarly fast-paced, customer-facing environment strongly encouraged.

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, such as shift lead, team lead, or similar, withdemonstratedability to direct others, coordinate a team, and take ownership of outcomes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and executive stakeholders clearly and professionally, advocate for operational needs, and work through competing priorities with good judgment.

  • A hospitality-forward, service-first mindset and a genuine ability to make employees and visitors feel welcome and well supported.

  • Familiarity with facilities-related basics such as vendor coordination, property management interactions, and certificates of insurance, with the confidence to handle that side of the work independently.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities with consistency and follow-through.

  • Comfort with workplace tools and technology including Slack, workplace booking systems, AV platforms, and other office operations tools.

  • Experience with workplace data and the ability to translate operational metrics into strategic insights.

  • A commitment to supporting and developing less experienced team members.

  • Ability tolift upto 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work on site 5 days per week in Reston, VA.

  • Ability to travel on behalf of College Board business 1 to 3 times per year.
