Position: Substitute Teacher
Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching for Westfield Washington Schools. Quality substitute teachers are an important asset to our schools and require special attributes to enhance our students' learning process. The best substitute teachers demonstrate the desire to work well with children, relate well to all students, inspire a love of learning and have a good sense of humor. In addition, they must be flexible, dedicated, patient, kind, fair and consistent.
Substitute teachers can manage the days of the week they are available to work through an automated system called Absence Management. This user-friendly system is accessible online or through a touch-tone phone which allows WWS teachers to enter absences and substitute teachers to select available jobs.

Day (4 hours or less)
$42.50
*Full Day pay rates are adjusted to $85.00 on certain days before and after breaks.
**Substitute teachrs earn a bonus incentive of $70.00 for every ten full days subbed each semester.
Substitute Teacher Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • A substitute teacher permit or valid Indiana teaching license
  • Minimum of 21 years of age to substitute teach at Westfield High School*
    *commensurate work experience may be substituted.

The Sub Coordinator will regularly review all applications and initiate phone interviews with those meeting the above requirements. Should you be selected to proceed in the hiring process you will be required to complete a full criminal background check.
Note: If you do not have a current Indiana teacher's license or substitute teacher's permit, it will be required within 15 days of your hire date. You can apply online for a permit with the Indiana Department of Education at https://license.doe.in.gov. The cost for the license is $15.00 and is valid for three years. Upon receipt, please fax or mail a copy to the Sub Coordinator so that we can add it to your personnel file.
