Job Description - Instructional Lead

About the Role

Read Write Learning Center is seeking a dedicated Instructional Lead who is passionate about empowering struggling readers and making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

The Instructional Lead is, first and foremost, a master teacher and a highly organized instructional leader who ensures consistency, quality, and growth across our program. This role requires someone who can build strong relationships with students, parents, and instructors while maintaining clear systems, high standards, and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

• Observe instructors and provide clear, actionable feedback.
• Answer instructor questions related to students and curriculum.
• Assist the Human Resource Manager with hiring and training new instructors.
• Monitor student progress and oversee the collection and quality of progress-monitoring data.
• Create or curate additional support for students who are struggling.

Student, Family & Team Support

• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and answer questions related to learning differences.
• Collaborate with branch staff to plan events and build a strong instructor community.

Direct Instruction

• Teach Orton-Gillingham-based academic language therapy lessons.
• Serve as an active member of the Branch Leadership Team.

About Our Leadership Structure

Read Write Learning Center's branch leadership team covers three key areas: educational consulting, instructional leadership, and operations. In Baldwin County, roles may focus on one area or combine two, depending on the strengths, experience, and interests of the successful candidates. We are open to several possible combinations and encourage candidates whose strengths extend beyond this role to apply.

All leadership roles are designed within a 40-hour workweek. Team members who own one leadership area typically spend a significant portion of their week providing direct instruction; combined leadership roles carry a reduced instructional caseload so there is dedicated time for both leadership functions.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of Orton-Gillingham-based academic language therapy and the field of learning disabilities.
• Specialized training and credentials in dyslexia are a strong plus; candidates motivated to pursue this training are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong reading, writing, and spelling skills.

Position Details

Location

Baldwin County / Daphne, AL

Hours

40 hours per week, 47 weeks per year.

Typical Allocation

Approximately 25 hours of instruction and 15 hours of instructional leadership per week for a standalone Instructional Lead role.

Compensation

$27-$35/hour (approximately $50,000-$65,000 annually). Based on 40 hours/week and 47 weeks/year. Read Write is closed 5 weeks per year for holidays.
