Our work is mission-critical, supporting the U.S. Navy and strengthening national security.

About Department 403 - Technical Services
The Life Cycle Support directorate is responsible for the development and maintenance of all submarine logistics products, including modernization and fleet support of submarines. Our mission is to provide the U.S. Navy five-star support that increases submarine Operational Availability and Capability. As part of this directorate, Department 403 -Technical Services provides writing, editing, logistics, and production services in the development and maintenance of logistic technical data (LTD), including ship systems manuals and component technical manuals for OHIO, SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA, SSGN, and COLUMBIA Class submarines.

Role Overview
In this position, you will research, write, and publish system level and component level technical descriptions and procedures for all submarine classes supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.

Work closely and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, technical illustrators, and department supervision to develop new or revised descriptive chapters, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and component technical manuals for systems and equipment found onboard nuclear powered submarines.

These technical products will be developed as interactive electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using state of the art electronic publishing software. Attention to detail and product ownership are essential in all phases of the development process to ensure an efficient and successful program.

Applicant must be willing to learn to read and interpret fluid and electrical system diagrams, ship construction drawings, equipment drawings, and vendor equipment operating manuals.

This is a 100% full time, on-site role.

Qualifications

Required

    High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelors Degree OR 4+ years of writing experience OR military experience
  • Current Active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred

  • Previous Navy experience
  • Technical or writing degree
  • Qualified in Submarines
  • Experience in electronic publishing (XML, SGML, or equivalent)
  • Experience reading & interpreting technical drawings
