The University of Notre Dame's College of Engineering is seeking a talented storyteller to serve as Senior Writer, a key member of the College's Communications and Marketing team. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing in the Office of the Dean, this position plays an important role in advancing the College's mission by sharing the stories, discoveries, and people that make Notre Dame Engineering a leader in education, research, and innovation.

Through compelling editorial content, the Senior Writer will help showcase the College's commitment to:

The Senior Writer serves as a strategic communications partner, developing engaging content that elevates the visibility and impact of Notre Dame Engineering across a variety of audiences and platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Research, write, edit, and publish high-impact stories and news content for engineering.nd.edu, department websites, and related digital platforms.
  • Identify and pitch compelling story ideas that highlight faculty, students, alumni, research discoveries, innovation, teaching excellence, and the broader impact of Notre Dame Engineering.
  • Conduct interviews with faculty, students, staff, and external partners to develop engaging and accurate content.
  • Create strategic communications materials including news articles, feature stories, social media content, email communications, and other marketing and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the College's communications and marketing team-including the director, designer, digital marketer, and photo/video specialists-to develop integrated storytelling campaigns that combine written, visual, and digital content.
  • Support communications planning, strategy development, and measurement efforts across the College's digital ecosystem, including websites, newsletters, announcements, event promotions, and other outreach initiatives.
  • Partner with Notre Dame Media Relations and communicators across campus to elevate stories that showcase the College's research, innovation, and impact to regional, national, and global audiences.
