Role Overview

The Technical Writer I supports the Navy by developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation in support of IT, cybersecurity, and engineering operations within global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments.

Essential Functions
  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including system manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure documentation complies with DoD, Navy, and program standards, including formatting and configuration control requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program staff to gather and validate technical content.
  • Support documentation for RMF packages, system configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain document version control and support audits, reviews, and updates.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
Required
  • 1–3 years of experience in technical writing, communications, IT, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience creating and editing technical documentation in a structured environment.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat).
Desired
  • Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and document control processes.
  • Experience supporting RMF documentation, system engineering documentation, or IT service documentation.
