Position Summary

Sams Tutoring Online is seeking an experienced Online K–12 Math & Literacy Tutor to provide engaging, one-on-one virtual instruction to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

This position is ideal for educators who enjoy building meaningful relationships with students, personalizing instruction, and helping learners gain both academic skills and self-confidence. Our students include both general education and neurodivergent learners, so patience, flexibility, and creativity are essential.


Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized online tutoring in K–12 mathematics and literacy.
  • Assess student strengths and areas of need to develop personalized learning plans.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Teach foundational and advanced math concepts appropriate to students' grade levels.
  • Provide literacy instruction including phonics, fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing.
  • Build student confidence through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and meaningful relationships.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, accomplishments, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate session notes and student records.
  • Create engaging, interactive virtual lessons.
  • Collaborate with the Sams Tutoring team as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Education or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching or tutoring K–12 students
  • Strong background in mathematics and literacy instruction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable high-speed internet and comfort using online teaching platforms
  • Ability to teach students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences
  • Knowledge of the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy instruction
  • Experience with intervention-based teaching
  • Special education experience
  • Orton-Gillingham or structured literacy training
  • Experience teaching upper-level mathematics is a plus
