About the Role:

The Service Writer plays a critical role in the automotive service department by acting as the primary liaison between customers and the service technicians. This position is responsible for accurately diagnosing customer concerns, preparing detailed repair orders, and ensuring clear communication throughout the service process. The Service Writer must manage customer expectations, provide timely updates, and facilitate a smooth workflow to maximize customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. By coordinating service schedules and maintaining detailed records, the Service Writer helps optimize shop productivity and supports the overall business objectives. Ultimately, this role ensures that customers receive high-quality service experiences that foster loyalty and repeat business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the commercial truck repair industry.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and terminology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and service management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using dealership management systems (Karmak experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with truck parts and inventory management.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair orders and technical manuals.
