Examples of conventional writing careers are journalists, novelists, poets, screenwriters, technical writers, and copywriters. Writers may work freelance or as a staff writer for a company. Typical job duties include researching, organizing, planning, and outlining written work, in addition to writing, editing, and revising the pieces. To create quality content, writers need excellent language skills, proficiency in computer programs, and a mastery of online tools and resources.

  • Actively learn and use the products you document to ensure content reflects real-world application, helping drive high-quality, authentic deliverables.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, aligning deliverables with software, firmware, and hardware release cycles while meeting deadlines and maintaining accountability.
  • Follow established style guidelines, voice standards, and best practices to ensure consistency across all documentation deliverables.
  • Create and maintain visual assets such as screenshots, diagrams, and workflows that enhance understanding and improve the user experience.
  • Prepare and structure documentation for localization, ensuring global accessibility for diverse customer bases.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve documentation processes, tools, and content, contributing innovative ideas that enhance team efficiency and product adoption.
  • Participate in agile workflows, including sprint planning and reviews, ensuring documentation remains aligned with evolving product development.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience creating technical or procedural documentation, with writing samples that reflect clarity, structure, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables while remaining collaborative and responsive to team input.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on inclusive, accessible, and customer-focused language.
  • Proven ability to learn complex technologies quickly and translate technical concepts into user-friendly documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
