They are responsible for writing down all the needed information to complete a work order, including a detailed description of what is happening with the piece of equipment that is going through the service shop. The Service Writer is also responsible for closing out all work orders at the end of the month. There are no exceptions to this. If a unit still needs additional work, the previous month’s work order still needs to be closed out, and a new one with the same number can be made with an attached number at the end, indicating that it is from a previous work order.Primary DutiesServe as the Warranty Administer for the brands Mason Tractor sells.
Responsible for assisting the Service Manager with quotes for customers and KTAC Insurance as well as helping to manage technicians.
Assist customers who need help in the Service Department, and customers who need assistance over the phone. Oftentimes, customers will be experiencing issues with their equipment and will need to be calmed, and this is the Service Writer’s responsibility to listen and assist any way they can.
Current customer outreach to inform them if their equipment has a new campaign.
Keep accreditation, campaigns, tool lists, and other paperwork that comes through the department.
Ordering shop supplies (such as Oil-Dri, methanol, etc.).
Work with salesmen to prepare sales packets that include the customers manuals, warranty booklets, etc.Other duties as assigned
