Summary Description

This position is responsible for the inspection, researching, evaluation, and estimation of repairs in addition to the proper coding of and preparation of billing repair card estimates & documentation required to maintain company, lessee, and customer fleets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research & inspects incoming cars for defects and/or repairs required in accordance with governing regulations, repair standards, project letters, and customer specifications.
  • Prepares and completes all paperwork required in conjunction with the write-up of needed repairs ensuring labor and material estimates and proper coding of same.
  • Identifies repairs and assigns responsibility in accordance with Guardian Rail's policies and pricing matrices to ensure estimate correctness, consistency, and profitability.
  • Interfaces daily with railroads, lessees, outside inspectors, and various marketing groups regarding inspection findings to expedite the repair process.
  • Participates in and actively supports quality projects and activities and Environmental Safety and Health initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of railroad repair experience preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of inspection procedures, railcar construction, and FRA and AAR rules and regulations.
  • Experience with NDT processes.
  • Additional training in inspection processes will be required.
  • Familiarity with AS400, Microsoft Office, and various customer systems.
