Job description

***IMMEDIATE INTERVIEWS***
*This is a 3rd shift position: 4 day week 10 hours shifts*
We are looking for a Transit Technician for our Orlando Airport, facility. HVAC Certification is preferred.
In your role as a Transit Technician, you will:
  • Performs the first line troubleshooting, train coordination, preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles and wayside equipment, including but not limited to propulsion, traction motors, brakes, air compressors, couplers, doors, HVAC, auxiliary power, and all other related electromechanical components and maintenance duties under the direction of the supervisor or the Lead Technician.
  • Makes recommendations for hardware and procedural changes that become evident during performance of maintenance, inspection, or troubleshooting
  • Interprets maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics, and drawings
  • Performs tests and prepares reports as required
  • Operates revenue service vehicles and support vehicles (golf cart, fork truck) to include configuring trains and ensures that trains entering revenue service are fully serviceable
  • Handles emergencies and failures in accordance with established procedures through immediate response and quick action
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Works variable hours and shifts
  • Participates in regular training to maintain the required level of knowledge to effectively maintain, repair, and troubleshoot the system. Trains subordinate personnel as required
  • Conduct inspections and audits, as directed, to ensure compliance of subcontractors
  • Complete logs, reports, administrative functions as necessary
  • Coordinate activities with team members
  • Perform receiving inspections as directed
  • Performs other related duties as required

Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass Federal Background Check to obtain and maintain Badge required by the Airport
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work various shifts (24hr Work Environment)
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent,
  • Type II or Universal HVAC Certification preferred.
  • Specialized technical training is a plus in any of the following categories: electrical, mechanical or electronics from a recognized institution.
  • Two -Four years' experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical-electrical or electronic systems plus proven familiarity in any one of the above trades are preferred.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain a rapport with employees and other personnel and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with others.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and simple electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of basic electronic theory preferred
  • Ability to read and follow administrative and technical procedures and/or instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend at the waist, crouch, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Employees will be required to work on an elevated surface, 2 feet wide up to 40 feet off the ground. The employee occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms and may be required to lift 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee may be required to work in and around APM system with live rails. The work area is exposed to the outside temperature and weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May require extensive walking and the regular use of stairs. May require occasional movement in confined spaces.
