Hybrid Automotive Service Writer / General Service TechnicianLakeland, FL
Join Our Team!

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Hybrid Automotive Service Writer / General Service Technician to join our team in Lakeland, Florida.
This is a hands-on position for someone who can do both sides of the business — work directly with customers as a Service Writer while also helping the technicians and performing general automotive repairs when needed.
If you have strong automotive knowledge, enjoy working with customers, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, this could be a great opportunity for you.
Responsibilities
Service Writing & Customer Service
  • Greet customers and provide professional, friendly service
  • Listen to customers' concerns and accurately document vehicle problems
  • Review vehicle inspections and explain recommended repairs and maintenance
  • Prepare estimates and computerized repair orders
  • Explain repair recommendations, pricing, and expected completion times
  • Obtain customer authorization before repairs are performed
  • Communicate with customers throughout the repair process
  • Follow up with customers regarding recommended or declined repairs
  • Recommend necessary maintenance and repairs based on vehicle condition
  • Promote shop specials and additional services when appropriate
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with customers
  • Work closely with technicians to ensure repairs are completed properly and efficiently
General Automotive Service
When needed, you will also assist in the shop with general automotive repairs and maintenance, including:
  • Oil changes and preventative maintenance
  • Tire installation, rotation, and balancing
  • Brake inspections and repairs
  • Battery replacement and charging system services
  • Steering and suspension repairs
  • Belts, hoses, filters, and other maintenance services
  • Basic A/C service
  • Vehicle inspections and basic diagnostics
  • General mechanical repairs based on your experience
  • Assisting other technicians with repairs when needed
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of automotive repair or service writing experience preferred

  • Strong general automotive knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and technicians
  • Comfortable explaining automotive repairs and pricing
  • Ability to perform general automotive maintenance and repairs
  • Strong customer service and sales skills
  • Reliable, organized, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Valid driver's license
  • ASE certifications are a plus but not required
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who can understand the repair, communicate the repair, and help get the repair done.

You don't have to be a Master Technician, and you don't have to be a career Service Writer. If you have solid automotive knowledge and are comfortable working both behind the counter and in the shop, we'd like to meet you.
This is an excellent opportunity for:
  • An experienced Service Writer with mechanical experience
  • A C-Tech or B-Tech looking to move into a hybrid role
  • A General Service Technician who is comfortable working with customers
  • An experienced automotive professional looking for more responsibility
Compensation
$20–$30+ per hour, depending on experience and skill level

Additional performance incentives may be available based on experience and responsibilities.
Location: Lakeland, Florida

If you are dependable, knowledgeable, good with customers, and willing to jump in wherever you're needed, we want to hear from you!
