Job description

Kingspan Light + Air is an award-winning innovator of daylighting and ventilation solutions for high-performance building envelopes, offering a wide range of high-quality solutions, including translucent daylighting systems, skylights, smoke, and natural ventilation products.
To help us continue to grow our offerings, we're searching for an Estimator to provide quotations, pricing and product information to customers and architectural sales staff. The Estimator will manage all parts of the project estimating process, using architectural drawings, online plans, project design documents and customer take-offs for custom skylights, canopies, vertical wall panels and translucent polycarbonate systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and coordinate project estimation during the bid stage for complete translucent systems.
  • Advise sales representatives, customers, and general contractors on complex skylight, daylighting, and wall panel projects.
  • Estimate projects using in-house programs and Excel spreadsheets, using take-offs from customers and following specification and architectural drawings.
  • Review and revise estimated projects as needed.
  • Study specifications, determine optimal products for requirements, and apply this knowledge to estimates.
  • Write detailed quote proposals and communicate with customers, representatives, and internal departments.
  • Work within a team environment, collaborating with management, sales, and engineering.
  • Enter sales orders into the business system.
  • Transition sold projects to the project management group by filling out order analysis sheets.
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Regularly review procedures to maintain the highest level of productivity in the department, considering cross-functional processes within the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
  • 2-5 years of experience as an estimator in Architectural Custom Skylights, Curtain Wall, Metal Structures, Glazing, or Building Envelope products.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, architectural, and structural drawings.
  • Develop extensive knowledge about the company's materials, production processes, departmental procedures, and product line features and benefits.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize work, coordinate activities simultaneously, and meet quote deadlines.
  • High level of math aptitude (including trigonometry) and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in computer software, including MS Word, MS Excel, and the ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, calculator, and copy machine.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers, co-workers, and business contacts.
  • Structural engineers and project managers from related industries may also be considered.
