Job description
Summary
As a Project Manager, CX (Commissioning Manager) you will take charge of planning, coordinating, executing, and overseeing all commissioning activities. You will bring deep expertise in the design, construction, and operation of MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems, with a strong focus on LEED Enhanced Commissioning and Building Envelope commissioning. You will play a central role in driving the commissioning process-leading, supporting, and facilitating each phase to ensure quality and performance across all systems.
Duties
Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
Lead and collaborate with high-performing teams throughout the construction and commissioning lifecycle, especially for complex, mission-critical facilities such as data centers, hospitals, laboratories, and airports. Foster integration across disciplines-mechanical, electrical, controls, and operational technology platforms-to ensure seamless system performance.
Partner with technical experts and subject matter authorities to develop and refine process documentation aligned with organizational standards and best practices.
Create compelling written and visual documentation that clearly communicates systems design, intent, and operational functionality.
Apply your experience and insight, along with collaboration with design and engineering teams, to define effective commissioning processes.
Interpret and analyze design plans and technical specifications with precision.
Gather, evaluate, and synthesize information from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct thorough reviews of design drawings, engineering specifications, and equipment submittals.
Perform additional responsibilities in support of project and team objectives as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related technical field, or 8+ years of relevant experience
BCxA ACP or CCP certification (or equivalent) required
Strong knowledge of ASHRAE commissioning procedures and MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, BAS, plumbing, lighting, fire/life safety, and security.
Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to lead and collaborate in high-performing teams.
Comfortable working in a mobile, dynamic environment.
Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes and standards, and an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units.
Experience with Data Centers and other Mission Critical jobs preferred.
