Fenner Dunlop is looking for an Operator C to join our Lavonia manufacturing team!

Fenner Dunlop, a Michelin Group company, designs and manufactures the widest range of bulk material handling conveyor belts in the world. We strive to be the premier provider of the safest and most reliable conveyor belting and services to a variety of heavy industrial markets such as coal mining, hard rock mining, sand, gravel, wood handling, power generation, pulp and paper. Fenner Dunlop provides North American made belting, manufactured at our facilities located throughout the United States and Canada. For over 150 years, Fenner Dunlop has researched, designed, developed, manufactured, and tested its conveyor belting products, supporting nearly any type of conveyor application.

Job Purpose

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and operate the RFL Treating equipment to produce treated fabric. 

Primary Duties

  • Use current Production Schedule to maintain a consistent flow of greige rolls through the treating equipment. 
  • Operate forklift and overhead hoist equipment to transport fabric. 
  • Load and unload let-off/take-up stands. Weigh treated wrapped rolls and document the weight and apply appropriate identification labels.
  • Operate sewing machine to sew at roll change ,hand and pneumatic stapler, and roll wrapping machine to wrap treated rolls for shipment.
  • Operate and adjust web centering and straightening units through out the line.
  • Identify defects in fabric quality through visual inspection. Cut lab samples of treated fabric and transport to lab.
  • Record and report production related data in Epicor.
  • Use proper Lockout Tagout procedures during any activity such as roll wrapping, repairing, adjusting or cleaning treating equipment.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 5S procedure, rules, and regulations. Stage work area for the organization of proper materials needed during the shift. Clean dewebbers, dip stations, air knife, bottom rollers, top rollers, pull stands, accumulators, and etc. using pressure washers, water hoses, and compressed air.  Requires general use of hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, etc.) for machine cleaning, setting and adjustments.   
  • Work schedule will consist of Working Monday - Thursday, 12 hour shifts and on call Friday as needed.

  • Fully trained in the Let Off /Take-Up Side and Operator B /Set Up duties in Weaving Department as needed to support production demands.

  • Use proper waste handling procedures so that at the end of the shift supplies are accurately in order for the following shift.
  • Maintain a good attendance record and adhere to the Attendance Policy. Adhere to Company Handbook, policies, and procedures. 
  • Perform any other task deemed necessary.

Secondary Duties

  • Communicate material inventory used to Process Controller as to maintain proper stock level.  
  • Assist other members as needed. Assist in training other team members. 
  • Follow all operating and safety procedures at all times.
  • Alert Management of any unsafe condition such as chemical spill and/or airborne contaminates.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Responsible for preparing  and operating the treating equipment to produce treated fabric for the shipping process.

Required Experience/Education

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior Operator B and setup experience required
  • Previous chemical handling 
  • Previous experience in operating over head hoist and/or forklift
  • Previous experience in operating pumps, valves, level indicators, flow meters, and load cells
