Wraparound Coordinator information

What is a wraparound coordinator?

A Wraparound Coordinator is a professional who helps organize and manage individualized care plans for children and families with complex needs, often involving multiple service providers such as mental health, education, and social services. They facilitate team meetings, ensure communication among all parties, and support families in identifying their strengths and goals. The coordinator works to create a collaborative approach that puts the family at the center of planning and decision-making. Their goal is to help families achieve positive outcomes by coordinating resources and services tailored to their unique needs.

How does a wraparound coordinator typically collaborate with families and service providers to support clients?

A Wraparound Coordinator works closely with families, clients, and a diverse team of service providers—including educators, healthcare professionals, and social workers—to create and implement individualized care plans. They facilitate regular team meetings to ensure everyone is aligned on goals and progress, and act as a central point of contact to streamline communication. This collaborative approach helps address complex needs holistically and ensures that each support strategy is tailored and responsive to the client’s unique situation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wraparound coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wraparound Coordinator, you need a background in social work, psychology, or a related field, often supported by a bachelor’s degree and experience in case management. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and the ability to facilitate teamwork among families and service providers help individuals stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for effectively coordinating comprehensive support plans and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families with complex needs.
