Job description

Overview:

PSS/Paramedic (PSS/PARA) (P)

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide advanced emergency medical care to Contractor personnel, COM personnel, and others at the direction of DS/RSO, including invasive and pharmacological interventions within the Contractor's Scope of Practice and in alignment with the National Emergency Medical Services Scope of Practice and WPS III IDIQ, Attachment 13, Clinical Protocol Guidance.
  2. Perform day-to-day personal protective security functions.
  3. Drive the lead vehicle, principal's vehicle, follow-vehicle, and/or act as a response agent whenever required in motorcade or similar operations.
  4. Maintain assigned protective formation position during principal's walking movements.
  5. Participate in advance security preparations.
  6. Staffs the security post at the principal's residence, or man the command post or other static post as required.
Qualifications:
For bio approval, the PSS/PARA shall meet the following qualifications:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Must possess either active or inactive National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification as a paramedic.
  3. Certification must be valid and active prior to deployment and remain valid and active throughout the period of deployment.
  1. Must possess current approved Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Professional Rescuer certification or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Training credentials [i.e., International Life Support (ILS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent].
  2. Must have successfully completed the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course of 63-hour TCCC Combat Medic/Corpsman Certification, within the last ninety (90) days. Completion of the PHTLS or ITLS course required in subparagraph C above does not satisfy this requirement.
  3. Must possess the following:
  4. A minimum of three (3) years of pre-hospital emergency medical services experience at the AEMT or paramedic level. While the Government may accept military service as a medical provider (including special operations units) to satisfy this requirement, the Government will not accept service in which a non-medical provider (infantryman, vehicle operator, clerk, etc.) provides medical first response as an ancillary duty in satisfaction of this requirement. Work experience in a hospital or clinic setting does not satisfy this requirement.
  1. A bio approved PSS/PARA does not automatically qualify to fill other P category positions, and requires separate bio approvals that must include the minimum experience outlined in this Attachment for other positions. (e.g. PSS require a minimum of one (1) year of experience in protective security assignments, but PSS/PARA does not require this experience, thus if the individual has this experience, they must demonstrate in a new bio submission for approval prior to filling a PSS position)
  2. must be able to pass the contract required physical fitness test and government provided training classes.
