The Digital Solutions Specialist supports WPI's digital equipment and condition monitoring strategy by collecting, analyzing, and translating telematics, oil analysis, and related equipment data into practical maintenance insights for customer and WPI-owned assets. The role will work primarily with Komatsu platforms and with telematics solutions from other OEMs, including BOMAG, SENNEBOGEN, and future supported brands.

Working closely with the Condition Monitoring Manager, WPI branches, Service, Product Support, IT and data teams, OEMs, vendors, and customers, this position will help identify developing equipment conditions, improve response to alerts and sample results, and support proactive and predictive maintenance practices. The specialist will develop and maintain standard procedures, reporting, training, and workflows that enable consistent technology adoption across WPI.

This position will cover the CMD territory of Texas and Louisiana and requires approximately 50% travel. The employee may office remotely when not at a customer site, WPI branch, OEM training or event, or other business location.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze equipment data from KOMTRAX, My Komatsu, Komatsu Global Portal, KOWA, local oil analysis programs, and supported OEM telematics platforms, including BOMAG and SENNEBOGEN.
  • Correlate fault and abnormality codes, utilization, location, maintenance history, inspections, and oil analysis trends to identify developing risks and recommend timely follow-up.
  • Convert data into clear, prioritized maintenance insights, branch and customer notifications, case documentation, and action tracking that support proactive and predictive maintenance.
  • Develop, document, standardize, and continuously improve practices, procedures, decision criteria, escalation paths, and workflows for telematics alerts, oil sample findings, and digital services.
  • Drive technology adoption across WPI branches through training, demonstrations, job aids, user onboarding, access support, coaching, and collection of user feedback.
  • Create and present dashboards, business intelligence reports, scorecards, recurring summaries, and program results for branches, leadership, OEMs, vendors, and customers.
  • Support data warehousing and analytics initiatives using Snowflake or other platforms, including data validation, query development, reporting logic, data models, and integration requirements.
  • Use business intelligence, advanced analytical tools, spreadsheets, and approved artificial intelligence applications to improve analysis, documentation, communication, and workflow efficiency.
  • Validate data quality and completeness across OEM and internal systems; help resolve discrepancies and support JDE Equipment Master and related asset records.
  • Support WPI oil analysis processes, including sample quality, vendor coordination, trend review, escalation, and timely communication with branches and customers.
  • Assist with K-Care and other OEM programs and with the development of scalable, revenue-generating condition monitoring and digital solutions for internal and external customers.
  • Serve as a liaison among WPI, Komatsu, other OEMs, vendors, branches, and customers to ensure clear communication, timely follow-up, and customer satisfaction.
  • Handle company, customer, and equipment data in accordance with WPI confidentiality, cybersecurity, and data governance requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Trade School or bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand equipment systems, maintenance practices, and developing failure conditions. Former technician, product support, condition monitoring, or similar experience is a plus.
  • Experience with OEM telematics, condition monitoring, or digital equipment platforms is a plus. Familiarity with Komatsu systems is preferred but not required; candidates with comparable experience and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies will be considered.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required to analyze complex technical and data-related situations, determine root cause, identify actions, and support resolution and implementation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel capabilities. Experience with Service Pro, Smartsheet, or similar business applications is preferred.
  • Experience with business intelligence, data visualization, data analysis, dashboarding, or other advanced analytical tools is preferred.
  • Experience with Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse or data management application is preferred. Familiarity with SQL, APIs, data integration, and data quality concepts is a plus.
  • Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar platforms is preferred. The successful candidate should be able to develop effective prompts, validate AI-generated output, and use these tools responsibly within WPI security and confidentiality requirements.
  • Superior written, verbal, presentation, and training skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Previous leadership, project coordination, or change-management experience is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to translate complex equipment and data findings into clear, practical, and prioritized maintenance recommendations.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities, cases, deadlines, travel schedules, and customer or branch commitments.
  • Self-starter and team player with a service-oriented, commercially aware approach to technology adoption and customer value.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, Service, Product Support, IT, data teams, branches, OEMs, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to provide timely, accurate, and professional support while maintaining attention to data quality and follow-through.
