Position: Medical Office Assistant

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Medical Office Assistant to oversee the daily operations of our medical practice. This position may require alternating between front and back office when needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities to Perform:

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow
  • Collect payments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Handle billing and insurance claims
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
  • Assists in the implementation of new policies, procedures, and programs
  • Act as the primary point of contact for patients and other healthcare providers
  • Check voicemail and staff box daily.
  • Support doctors to provide good patient flow during clinic for timely workup and checkout.
  • Responsible for opening clinic prior to patient workup
  • Accept other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for helping with medication refills
  • Cleans instruments with autoclave after proceduresContributes to marketing meetings and provides necessary data reports.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Prepare procedure and exam rooms; inventory equipment and supplies.
  • Sets up sterile field with required instruments and medication.
  • Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and sterilizing ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with testing (OCT, IOL Master, Retina photography, Visual Fields, manifest refractions etc.)
  • Consents patient, obtains appropriate paperwork, and provides pre- and post-operative instructions

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years Experience with billing and claims
  • 2+ years Experience in a medical office role
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Accountable, Dependable and Punctual work ethics
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Preferred ophthalmology office experience

M-F 9AM-2PM

OCCASIONAL M-F 9AM-5PM
