COMMERCIAL WORKOUT OFFICER 1
Commercial Alliance provides a comprehensive suite of lending services designed to help credit unions succeed with business members across six states. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated professional to assist with our Special Assets team. This position would assist with the administration, monitoring, and resolution of criticized and classified commercial loans. Supports workout strategies, collection efforts, collateral reviews, financial analysis, and documentation management while developing expertise in commercial loan workouts, SBA servicing, and Special Assets administration. Will work under the direction of senior workout personnel and leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with monitoring and servicing commercial loans transferred to Special Assets, including criticized, classified, delinquent, or otherwise deteriorating credits.
  • Review borrower financial information, loan approvals, memorandums, credit reports, tax returns, rent rolls, collateral records, and loan documentation to identify issues requiring follow-up.
  • Maintain workout files, account status reports, action plans, follow-up timelines, and supporting documentation for assigned credits.
  • Assist with preparation of risk rating recommendations, default or demand correspondence, collection memos, workout proposals, and borrower communication summaries.
  • Follow up with borrowers, attorneys, appraisers, property managers, environmental consultants, creditors, lending staff, and other third parties to obtain documentation or status updates.
  • Participate in borrower meetings, collection calls, site visits, collateral inspections, and workout discussions; prepare clear notes and action items following the interaction.
  • Support basic collateral analysis, guarantor review, repayment capacity analysis, and development of workout or exit strategy alternatives.
  • Assist senior workout personnel with SBA-related servicing, liquidation, guaranty purchase, recovery, and documentation requirements, as applicable.
  • Help coordinate legal, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and recovery activities under the guidance of senior workout personnel and counsel.
  • Ensure assigned work is completed in accordance with Credit Union/CUSO policies, procedures, documentation standards, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Working knowledge of commercial credit, lending, collections, loan servicing, loan review, or financial analysis concepts.
  • Ability to review financial statements, credit reports, loan documents, collateral information, and borrower correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain tracking reports, deadlines, documentation, and follow-up items.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document borrower conversations and summarize credit issues clearly.
  • Ability to interact professionally with borrowers, attorneys, internal lending staff, credit administration, loan operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to learn Commercial Real Estate, Commercial amp; Industrial, SBA, bankruptcy, foreclosure, collateral liquidation, and Special Assets processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn internal loan systems and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while appropriately escalating complex or higher-risk matters.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • One to three years of experience in commercial credit, commercial lending, loan servicing, collections, underwriting, loan review, banking, or related financial services role.
  • Basic understanding of financial statement analysis, ratios, collateral concepts, repayment capacity, and commercial loan documentation.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, percentages, ratios, proportions, and related lending calculations.
Preferred:
  • Exposure to Special Assets, problem loan administration, default servicing, or commercial workout activity.
  • Exposure to SBA 7(a), SBA 504, or other government-guaranteed lending programs.
  • Commercial credit training or coursework.
  • Experience with Commercial Real Estate, Commercial amp; Industrial lending, collections, borrower follow-up, or collateral documentation.
