Job description

On-Call Janitor - (Riverside)

Please read before applying:

This is an on-call position. Shifts are available on an as-needed basis to work special events, provide additional support during peak work periods, fill in for an absent employee, or in other occasional circumstances.

Opening: Starting Immediately

Location: Riverside National Cemetery

Employment type: On-Call; Non-Exempt

Compensation: $16.32 Hourly; Plus $4.23/hour for Health and Welfare = $20.55

Benefits:

Schedule:

  • On-Call - Flexibility is required; shifts are variable depending on need.

  • Availability on short notice is desired (2 hours before shift start)

  • Must be available to fill in as a replacement during the week as needed.

  • Must be okay with working morning or evening shifts

  • Must be available to work on Federal Holidays when needed

  • Days & Shifts you may be called in to work: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, 3:30 pm - 9:30 pm, 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Saturday & Sundays 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Severson Group is in search of an on-call Janitor to join our team at Riverside National Cemetery. This position plays a vital role in preserving the sacred environment of the cemetery by performing custodial duties in offices, restrooms, chapels, visitor centers, and ceremonial spaces, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for veterans' families, visitors, and staff.

Job Duties:

The Janitor is responsible for ensuring that all facilities and public-use areas within the Riverside National Cemetery are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, dignity, and respect. This position requires a highly reliable and highly flexible individual with the ability to perform quality work without direct supervision.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- High and low dusting

- Replenishing restroom supplies

- Cleaning offices and restrooms

- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous janitorial experience and a proper understanding of safety and sanitation standards, chemical use, and Personal Protective Equipment are desired; however, training can be provided.

  • Valid California Driver's License

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Respectful communication and good interpersonal skills are mandatory for this position.

  • Must have a positive, team-oriented attitude.

  • Ability to follow instructions and established cleaning protocols.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and order.

  • Demonstrates discretion, respect, and professionalism at all times.

  • Ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15lbs

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, twist, reach, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, and

  • balance.

  • Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions
