Job description

Irrigation Superintendent
Location: Mt. Olivet Cemetery - Wheat Ridge, CO
Our Irrigation Superintendent is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Mount Olivet & Saint Simeon irrigation systems, to include wells, reservoirs, property lake pump houses, headgates, fairly lengthy ditch laterals and a long pipeline. As our Irrigation Superintendent, your duties must be performed consistent with company mission, values, adherence to company policies and procedures. Which in doing so, upholds the Catholic social teachings of the Catholic Church (the Church).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday: 7am - 3:30pm
  • Maintain both locations: Mount Olivet and Saint Simeon
  • Create labor and material estimates for repairs and order equipment and supplies
  • Manage and maintain ditch laterals, pipelines, reservoirs, wells, water use, and pump houses
  • Manage water use to comply with decree requirements; develop reports to demonstrate trends in water usage that may increase the organization's productivity and decrease cost
  • Interact with neighbors, site owners, regulatory agencies, landscape architects, engineers, contractors, staff members, manufacturers of irrigation products and other site development architects
  • Read blueprints, schematics and shop drawings to review and interpret project scope, work plan and specifications to prepare permits
  • Supervise and implement the inspection, repair, replace, adjust, assess, modify and perform preventative maintenance on sprinkler systems, components and automatic controllers; install and connect low voltage wiring
  • Troubleshoot and respond to emergency requests during and after work hours

REQUIREMENTS
  • Positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, her teachings, and her work
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics and shop drawings
  • Must have valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Must have an Associate's Degree or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree, field experience and business management experience a plus
  • Certifications in irrigation management and efficiency in customer service orientation
  • At least 5-7 years of related experience with 2-3 years of lead or supervisory experience preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to lift, carry, push or pull objects more than 50 lbs. with no assistance
  • Some of these duties may involve work done on weekends, evening, nighttime and holidays

Mt. Olivet Cemetery was consecrated in 1892 and is located on the western side of the Denver Metro area in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. It is the largest cemetery in Colorado containing 392 acres. St. Simeon Cemetery was consecrated in 2004 and is located on the eastern side of the Denver Metro area in Aurora, Colorado. The Mortuary has two locations. The first is located on the grounds of Mt. Olivet Cemetery and was opened in 1981. The second was the recent acquisition of Caldwell-Kirk Mortuary. These entities serve the Catholic Community of the Denver metro area and its various parishes, missions, and apostolates and other members of the general public regardless of their religious affiliation.
