Workforce Disruption Rn information

What is a Workforce Disruption RN?

Workforce Disruption RNs are registered nurses who provide temporary clinical support to healthcare facilities experiencing staffing shortages due to strikes, labor disputes, or other disruptions. These nurses are typically assigned on short notice and may work in various settings, such as hospitals or long-term care facilities. Their primary role is to ensure that patient care continues safely and effectively during periods when regular staff are unavailable. Workforce Disruption RNs must quickly adapt to new environments and work collaboratively with existing teams.

How does a Workforce Disruption RN typically collaborate with other departments during organizational changes or crises?

A Workforce Disruption RN often works closely with HR, management, and clinical teams to ensure continuity of patient care during periods of staffing shortages, organizational restructuring, or crises such as strikes or emergencies. This role requires strong communication skills to coordinate schedules, provide patient updates, and implement contingency plans. Collaboration is essential, as the Workforce Disruption RN may also train temporary staff or help onboard redeployed employees, ensuring everyone adheres to protocols and maintains high standards of care. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as workflows and team dynamics can change rapidly in response to ongoing disruptions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Workforce Disruption RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Workforce Disruption RN, you need a solid clinical background, an active RN license, and the flexibility to adapt quickly to new healthcare environments. Familiarity with various hospital systems, electronic medical records (EMR), and rapid onboarding processes is crucial. Outstanding communication, resilience, and problem-solving skills set top candidates apart in managing changing team dynamics and patient needs. These competencies ensure continuous, high-quality patient care during staffing shortages or organizational transitions.

Job description

A modern, well-equipped on-site clinic. A steady Monday-Friday schedule that actually lets you have a life. And a role where you're not just another nurse on the floor; you're THE nurse. The one people count on. The one who makes the call.

This is occupational health nursing at its most impactful: supporting the workforce of a globally recognized manufacturing organization, where your clinical judgment and confidence directly keep people safe every single shift.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

✔ Be the trusted clinical presence for an entire evening shift, real autonomy, real impact
✔ Predictable Monday-Friday schedule, no weekends
✔ Work in a modern, well-resourced on-site clinic
✔ Strong potential to extend through the end of the year (12/31/26)
✔ Support a workforce at a globally recognized manufacturing leader

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:45 PM
  • Location: Portland, OR (onsite)
  • Position Type: Contract, 9/15/2026 through 12/31/2026

What You'll Do

  • Assess and treat workplace injuries and illnesses

  • Perform nursing assessments and triage with confidence and speed
  • Document patient care using an electronic health record (EHR)
  • Coordinate referrals as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Active Oregon RN license
  • Experience with first aid and emergency response for workplace injuries
  • EHR experience required
  • Strong assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills, you'll need to trust your instincts
  • Occupational health, emergency department, or urgent care experience preferred
  • Current BLS certification

⭐ A Role Built for Someone Who Leads

You'll be the only healthcare provider on the evening shift, which means every clinical decision is yours to own. If you thrive on autonomy, love being the go-to expert in the room, and want a role where your skills genuinely matter every single day, this is it.
