Position Summary:
OCSD Student Ambassador is a student leadership position responsible for serving as peer guides, support, and representatives of OCSD. The OCSD Student Ambassador will support the office's mission by engaging in programs that help with the development and engagement of first year and continuing undergraduate students. In addition, the OCSD Student Ambassador will help students foster a sense of belonging and connection to UWSP.
Compensation: $12.50 per hour
Hours: 8 to 10 hours per week
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an OCSD representative at recruitment, retention, and engagement events including ViewPoint Day, Admitted Students Day, high school/group visits, orientation programs, and other campus events.
  • Assist with event coordination, presentations, campus tours, tabling, and outreach efforts that support prospective and current students.
  • Meet weekly with the OCSD Associate Director
  • Provide office support within OCSD main office, including welcoming students, answering questions, connecting students to resources, and assisting with daily operations.
  • Support first-year experience initiatives, orientation programming, cultural events, and student engagement opportunities across OCSD and the resource centers.
  • Manage and support OCSD social media accounts by creating engaging content, promoting events and initiatives, monitoring engagement, and maintaining a consistent presence.
  • Create social media posts, photos, videos, reels, stories, and other content that reflects the mission, values, and programming of OCSD and the resource centers.
  • Collaborate with professional staff and student employees on outreach, marketing, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Attend required staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities throughout the academic year.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a current full-time undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in good academic standing.
  • Must be Sophomore standing or higher.
  • Strong written, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiar with UWSP Campus (i.e., Academic resources, residential life, campus activities)
  • Ability to address sensitive concerns of students in a professional, tactful, and confidential manner
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to foster an open, friendly, and engaging environment that supports and respects the diverse needs of students

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a mentor, tutor, or related leadership position.
  • Experience facilitating group discussions or presentations.
  • Experience planning events
