Job Summary and Responsibilities

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Trauma & Surgery Support team!

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a PA in a surgical or trauma setting highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with DaVinci robotic assistance is highly preferred.

  • Experience with inpatient rounding, ED/inpatient consults, and surgical first assisting highly preferred.

  • Masters graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required

  • PA Certification by N.C.C.P.A. and current mid-level provider license by the state of Colorado required

  • BLS from the American Heart Association required

  • ACLS from the American Heart Association may be required

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly

Where You'll Work

As a Physician Assistant specializing in Trauma & Surgery Support, you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • First Assisting in Surgery: Performing first assist duties in the operating room, demonstrating a strong understanding and proficiency with the DaVinci robotic system.
  • Daily Patient Management: Conducting daily rounds, writing timely and accurate progress notes, and effectively coordinating patient care plans across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Consultation Services: Providing expert consultation for patients in the Emergency Department and across various inpatient units.
  • Workflow Optimization: Coordinating workflow and communication seamlessly between the Operating Room, outpatient clinics, and inpatient units to ensure efficient patient progression.
  • Procedure Support: Assisting with various procedures within the operating room.
  • Rapid Assessment & Care Planning: Assuming responsibility and accountability for rapid assessment, nursing diagnosis, and collaborating with physicians to assure safe patient diagnostic testing and an optimal plan of care.
  • Advanced Practice Procedures: Performing advanced practice procedures within the scope of practice for a Physician Assistant.
  • Mission Alignment: Assuming personal accountability for upholding the organizational mission and core values of CommonSpirit Health.
  • Position covers inpatient service only, no clinic responsibilities.
