Actives Assistant develops and implements inspiring success-oriented Life Enrichment programs designed to meet the overall needs of the residents 
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Develops meaningful and purposeful activity programs to enrich the lives of the residents and families 
  • Embraces and promotes a comprehensive program model through calendar development, associate and volunteer participation 
  • Provides a forum for residents and family members to meet regularly and share their ideas, thoughts, and concerns regarding their daily living experience 
  • Ensures that residents are encouraged and assisted to participate in life enrichment activity programs that are of interest to them 
  • Encourages and welcomes participation from other departments 
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director including on-call and Manager on Duty responsibilities as assigned 
 
GRACE SPECIFIC 
  • Encourages teamwork and promotes company philosophy 
  • Ensures all residents feel loved, listened to and respected  
  • Attends required community meetings 
  • Is prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position a regular, predictable basis 
  • All associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residents 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
  • Able to read, write, and speak and understand the English Language. Bi-lingual a plus 
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, and outside contacts 
  • Able to make independent decisions 
  • Able to seek out new methods and willing to incorporate them into existing practices when applicable 
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 
  • Associate’s degree is preferred, or equivalent education and experience 
  • Training as certified activity director; recreational, music, therapist preferred 
 
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a senior care community 
  • Experience working with Dementia residents 
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and training preferred 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. 
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, push, climb and/or balance, stoop or kneel, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk and /or hear 
  • Frequently will assist in lifting and/or transferring residents weighing up to 250 pounds 
  • Close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision is required 
  • Subject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the workdayÂ
