Actives Assistant develops and implements inspiring success-oriented Life Enrichment programs designed to meet the overall needs of the residentsÂ

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
- Develops meaningful and purposeful activity programs to enrich the lives of the residents and familiesÂ
- Embraces and promotes a comprehensive program model through calendar development, associate and volunteer participationÂ
- Provides a forum for residents and family members to meet regularly and share their ideas, thoughts, and concerns regarding their daily living experienceÂ
- Ensures that residents are encouraged and assisted to participate in life enrichment activity programs that are of interest to themÂ
- Encourages and welcomes participation from other departmentsÂ
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director including on-call and Manager on Duty responsibilities as assignedÂ

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESÂ
- Able to read, write, and speak and understand the English Language. Bi-lingual a plusÂ
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, and outside contactsÂ
- Able to make independent decisionsÂ
- Able to seek out new methods and willing to incorporate them into existing practices when applicableÂ
- Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizensÂ
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSÂ
- Associate’s degree is preferred, or equivalent education and experienceÂ
- Training as certified activity director; recreational, music, therapist preferredÂ

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSÂ
- Minimum of one-year experience in a senior care communityÂ
- Experience working with Dementia residentsÂ
- Experience in volunteer recruitment and training preferredÂ

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.Â
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, push, climb and/or balance, stoop or kneel, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk and /or hearÂ
- Frequently will assist in lifting and/or transferring residents weighing up to 250 poundsÂ
- Close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision is requiredÂ
- Subject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the workdayÂ
