Job description

The Technician providesacademic, technical, and operational support for the Faculties Science,Engineering and Technology (SET), and Hospitality and Horticultural Science(HHS) at the Whitby Campus. The role is integral to supporting the delivery ofpractical, laboratory, and experiential learning activities by ensuringlaboratories, equipment, materials, and supplies are prepared, maintained, andavailable to support curriculum delivery and student success.
Working closely withfaculty, staff, industry partners, and students, the incumbent coordinateslaboratory readiness, inventory management, procurement, equipment maintenance,calibration, troubleshooting, and health and safety compliance. The Technicianensures that laboratory environments operate effectively, safely, and inalignment with program requirements, institutional policies, and regulatorystandards.
The incumbent is responsiblefor maintaining laboratory equipment, records, maintenance logs, and standardoperating procedures, while providing technical expertise and support tofaculty, students, and administration. The role also supports laboratory operations,storage management, equipment lifecycle planning, and continuous improvementinitiatives that enhance the quality and effectiveness of academic programming.
