Job Description Summary:

Capilano University's Centre for International Experience is seeking an international student ambassador to provide student assistance in the Study Abroad and Partnerships division.

Job Description:

  • Create and schedule social media posts to support outbound mobility promotion e.g. Instagram, Facebook)
  • Assist with sourcing and categorizing/archiving student stories from study abroad reports and direct contacts with students
  • Conduct classroom visits to promote study abroad programs to current CapU students
  • Support with on-campus study abroad promotional booths
  • As an ambassador, liaise with inbound exchange and VISP (visiting international student program) students, and support the planning of global engagement and cultural activities
  • Assist with administrative tasks in the Study Abroad office such as tracking qualitative and quantitative data (using Excel and Word), market research, and scanning and filing documents related to all study abroad programs such as exchanges, COIL-VE (virtual exchanges), summer schools, and field schools.
  • Support the coordination of the Study Abroad Buddy program
  • Assist the Global Engagement Team with pre-departure and re-entry sessions and supports for outbound students
  • Assist the Global Engagement Team with arrival and orientation sessions and supports for new incoming exchange and VISP students
  • Assist International Student Recruitment and Engagement with campus tours when necessary
  • Assist the Global Engagement Team with special global engagement events such as International Education Week, BIG Year-End Study Abroad Info Session and alike.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for student employment, a student must be in good academic standing with the University. Good standing is defined as having a GPA of 2.0 and no current notations regarding academic standing, student conduct or outstanding fees per policy S2003-003 Academic Standing, a copy of which can be found on the University's website.

Domestic students must be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of two or more (6 credits) courses at Capilano University throughout the work term; international students must: during the fall and winter semesters, be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of 9 credits at Capilano University throughout the work term; have a valid Study Permit.

Student employees are not required to be enrolled in courses during the summer term to maintain eligibility for employment; however, they must have been enrolled in a minimum of six credits during the preceding spring term. Furthermore, international students must abide by the terms of their work or study visas.

Students who complete their studies in the spring or summer terms may have their appointments extended until August 31 of the same year; students who complete their studies in the fall term may have their appointments extended until December 31 of the same year.
