Job description

Job Summary:

The Admissions and Outreach Department at RRCC is seeking a Student Ambassador to provide quality customer service to prospective students and their families through campus tours, information sessions, open houses, enrollment and registration assistance, student panels, and outreach events. Student Ambassadors serve as the first point of contact for the college by responding to questions, giving directions from information desks on campus, mailing information, maintaining a database of prospective students, and making outbound phone calls to current and future students. General duties include assisting with the planning and implementation of campus tours and events hosted by Admissions & Outreach; attending student events, ambassador meetings, and professional development workshops or trainings as required; maintaining professional attire while on duty (specific attire will be provided for special events); and occasionally working special events that may take place outside of normal business hours.
This position reports to the Information Desk Supervisor/Administrative Assistant III. The work schedule for this position is during the Information Desk hours of Monday-Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm, Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm, (priority is given to covering Monday-Friday), at the Lakewood campus location. May require hours outside of normal work schedule.
This is a student employee position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.

Required Qualifications

For work study employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
2. Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.

3. Must have completed at least one semester at Red Rocks Community College and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

For student hourly employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours).

2. Must have completed at least one semester at Red Rocks Community College and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Other Required Qualifications
1. Must have a commitment to equity and quality customer service and the ability to interact and communicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
3. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint) and have advanced computer skills and experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom/Webex etc.).
4. Must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic.
5. Must be a self-starter with time-management skills and a strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to work from campus (Lakewood campus location) and be eligible for student employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public speaking skills are preferred.
  • Be able to provide at least one letter of recommendation if requested and be able to demonstrate active campus involvement.


Physical & Cognitive Demands:

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay
The hourly pay for this position is $19.37 - $19.89, per hour commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on need and budget availability. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Benefits

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with SB20-205, Sick Leave for Employees, accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. RRCC/CCCS student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA. RRCC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457. Employee assistance services such as counseling, professional coaching, financial planning, and more, are available to you and members of your household at no cost through the Colorado State Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP). State employees are eligible to participate in BenefitHub which offers discounts for retailers and services and other benefits resources.
