Why Join Our Team?

Contech is a leader in site solutions, and we are seeking a Steel Truss Bridge Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will primarily work in a structural engineering design capacity, providing technical support to various internal and external customers. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with in-house engineers, external consultants, and in-house fabrication personnel while developing engineering solutions for short to medium span pedestrian and vehicular bridge projects for national clients.

What We Offer:

  • Hands on Engineering Environment:  We fabricate our bridge designs in-house which provides a unique engineering environment.  Our engineers are encouraged to leave their offices and spend time on the shop floor collaborating with welders, saw/plasma operators, and shop quality personnel every day.
  • Work-Life Balance: We understand the importance of achieving your professional goals without compromising your personal life.
  • Career Growth: Join an industry leader known for its world-class design, manufacturing, sourcing, and distribution, and take your career to new heights.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: We offer a competitive benefits package with options that cater to you and your family's needs.

About the Role:

Design Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Design Services: Provide customized project-specific design services, with a focus on Contech's bridge products. This involves preparation of engineering drawings and calculations, review of project plans, and development of project solutions to assist the sales team in integrating Contech's products into site plans.
  • Structural Analysis: Perform structural analysis and design of bridge elements, including superstructures, foundations, and retaining walls.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with in-house engineers, CAD Techs, Sales/Marketing Team members, and outside engineers to specify and design Contech's products.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support to the Operations/Manufacturing Team to ensure proper fabrication of products.
  • Communication: Coordinate with field sales staff and the manufacturing team to address questions and concerns regarding product design, manufacturing, and installation. You will also provide technical advice to the sales/marketing team and external consultants.
  • Quality Control: Review design work produced by other team members to ensure accuracy.  Inspect and observe in-house fabrication for adherence to design drawings.
  • Standards and Training: Maintain engineering standards, policies, best practices, and procedures. Help develop training programs and aids for products.
  • Documentation: Assist in the development and writing of technical papers and product literature needed for the support and promotion of Contech's products.
  • Specification Expertise: Have a working knowledge of governing specifications covering products and contribute to the development and modification of such specifications. May serve on technical committees to develop these specifications.
  • Professional Development: Maintain knowledge and certifications in the civil/structural engineering field. This includes attending industry trade shows, continuing education courses, and seminars, as necessary.
  • Site Visits: Occasional travel to job sites to provide technical support, consultation, and evaluation related to product installations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; strong preference for Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
  • PE with a minimum of 2-years of reviewing and sealing work.
  • 6-10 years of experience in structural steel or bridge design.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel required.
  • Experience with AUTOCAD, finite element analysis, and/or structural analysis software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong team and client relationships.
