Ranked #8 Top Workplace – Midsize Employer, MN

About the Role:

At SFM, our mission is to make a difference in people’s lives after someone has sustained a work-related injury.  We do this by delivering outstanding customer service to all parties involved in the claims process and carrying out the Organization’s mission to “do the right thing”. As a UX Researcher, you will focus on improving the user experience of the organization’s websites, applications, and services and will design and conduct all forms of user research to provide insights into customer desires, uncover behaviors, needs and pain points.  The UX Researcher will communicate research findings to designers, developers, and other areas of the business in a way that builds empathy and catalyzes action. A big part of the role will be using your expertise in both quantitative and qualitative user research methods.  Being a team player and having a desire to deliver the best product to customers will be a key function. This is a hybrid role, and some time is required working onsite in our Corporate Headquarter, therefore persons living in MN are preferred.  Apply today and discover why our employees choose to stay, grow their careers, and thrive in an environment that is focused on assisting them to be their very best.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, plan, and conduct user research using quantitative and qualitative methods such as interviews, competitive analysis, usability testing, surveys, concept testing, and stakeholder workshops.
  • Analyze research and survey data to identify user behaviors, needs, pain points, and recommended product or experience improvements.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations in clear, compelling formats such as personas, journey maps, written reports, and presentations.
  • Manage the full research process, including study design, participant recruiting and scheduling, moderation, data analysis, reporting, and maintaining a research repository.
  • Collaborate with UX team members, stakeholders, and developers while advocating for user-centered design practices across the organization.

What We’ll Like About You:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training in field related to UX research such as human factors, human/computer interaction (HCI), psychology, anthropology, sociology, design, communication, journalism, media studies, cognitive science, information science, behavioral economics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of work experience in UX research or a related field.
  • Experience planning and executing qualitative research using a variety of methods such as competitive analysis, interviews, surveys and usability testing.
  • Experience creating UX research deliverables such as user journey maps, personas, reports and presentations.
  • Experience managing projects with limited oversight as an individual contributor.
  • Deep knowledge and proficiency in user research methodologies.
  • Experience planning and conducting user research in a professional environment.
  • Strong communicator (written, verbal and listening) who is adept at working with customers and stakeholders.
  • Passion for understanding and empathizing with customers, and ability to communicate that to others and delivering excellent customer service at all levels.
  • Ability and willingness to learn the complexities of our business such as legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrates positive teaming skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proven experience in using data (both quantitative and qualitative) analysis techniques to inform design decisions.
  • Ability to be in office as needed.
