Strong organization and communication skills; experience with standard computer programs and operating systems, namely Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Windows; ability to maintain professionalism while assisting students, staff, faculty, and visitors; dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented; willingness to learn; strong understanding of confidentiality .

Staffing Reason Work Study Primary Responsibilities
Position Summary: Academic Affairs seeks a dependable and motivated Student Assistant to support the daily operations of the department and Provost's Office. This position assists the Provost, Assistant Provost, and staff by providing administrative and operational support while helping maintain a welcoming and organized environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The hours will primarily be during the workweek, Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with departmental administrative tasks.
  • Provide general assistance to the Provost, Assistant Provost, and staff as needed.
  • Utilize computer applications and office technology effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with preparations for committee and faculty meetings.
  • Assist with preparations for graduation, faculty functions, and commencement ceremonies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and operations of the department.

Security Sensitive:
This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
