Job description

DRA Global Limited is an international multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery and operations management group, predominantly focused on the mining, minerals and metals industry.


The Group has an extensive track record spanning almost four decades across a wide range of commodities. Our teams have deep expertise in the mining, minerals and metals processing industries, as well as related non-process infrastructure such as, water, and energy solutions.

DRA covers all major mining centers with offices across Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, and the Asia-Pacific.


Reporting to DRA America’s E&IC Engineering HOD, you will be responsible for engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.

Reporting to our office in Phoenix, AZ (and with site visits to our Hudbay Project in Tucson, AZ). 



Main functions include (but not limited to): 

  • Collaboration with Process and Mechanical Departments in development of the load list
  • Update and maintain the electrical database for the project
  • Cable Schedule
  • Electrical Equipment List & Datasheets
  • Medium and Low Voltage Single Line Diagrams
  • Electrical Schematic and Wiring Diagrams
  • Procurement of Electrical Equipment
  • ETAP Modelling
  • Technical Support
  • Package Management
  • Construction technical support & Commissioning
  • Documentation and handover
  • Engineering Mentorship


Project Coordination

  • Ensure that the discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design).
  • Provide design interface between disciplines.
  • Ensure (certified) design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other designs.
  • Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of discipline design.
  • Ensure continuous improvement, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.
  • Carry the responsibility for the engineering discipline sign off.
  • Interface with internal and external design and drafting disciplines.
  • Provide discipline inputs for studies and proposals.
  • Onsite presence to provide engineering support to the contractor.
  • Onsite presence for commissioning discipline activities.
  • Manage the mark-up and back drafting of redline drawings.
  • Manage the discipline engineering handover and support to the client
  • Mentor all ECI-engineering disciplines.
  • Takes ownership for personal development (within industry through registration and within company)
  • Support the Principal Engineers, ECI Managers and the HOD.


Requirements:

  • 15+ years’ experience in a similar role within the multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Previous mining project experience.
  • Registered Engineer

Physical Requirements:

While performing duties of this job, you may be required to stand, sit in a stationary position 50% of the time, alternate between sitting and standing, push/pull as necessary, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, or stoop.

May be required on occasion to lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small packages, typically up to 10 -20 pounds.

Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.

Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, analyzing data, and working on a computer.
