Hourly Rate: $23.77
Shift:12 Hour Swing shift (6-6)
Libbey's Furnace Tender position is responsible for maintaining good glass quality & color, while maximizing furnace fuel efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor furnace operations, change setpoints, obtain glass samples, use oxygen-gas analyzer, take optical temperature readings.
  • Adjust and clean burners, unplug cullet chutes, replace expendable refractories.
  • Operate colorant forehearths, maintain colorant frit feeders.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Successfully pass the Mechanical Aptitude Test
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
  • Forklift operator license required
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour swing shift
  • Prior furnace experience preferred
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment exposed to extreme heat, noise, oil, etc.
  • Must pass pre-employment testing including physical capacity test, respirator fit test (no facial hair), drug screen and background check
  • Visual ability to distinguish colors to determine proper color specifications
  • Ability to hear specific sounds, such as alarm horns, fan sounds, burner sounds, air leaks, noises around the chargers, and motor sounds
