ResponsibilitiesThe Extern - Work Study works limited time status under the direction of the RN Preceptor to provide patient care using defined procedures and standards in accordance with the goals of the unit and the philosophy of Community Health System.ย QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General office practices and procedures.
  • Awareness of activities of the department, division, or function supported and where it fits within the organization.
  • Medical or other department specific terminology including spelling and definitions.
Education
  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
  • Current enrollment in an accredited RN nursing program required
  • Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with the school of nursing OR current CHS employment while enrolled in a CHS/Unitek nursing program eligible for the practice and academic partnership (not for academic credit) required
  • Successful completion of required foundational nursing coursework and eligible program semester(s) as defined by the Nursing Extern Work Study Program required
ย Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
