Job description

Electrical Engineering Manager
Bedford Park, IL (On-site)
Compensation: $140K to $160K (based on education and experience)
Schedule: 1st Shift
About the Role
A well-established, large-scale packaging equipment operation in Bedford Park is creating a new role for a high-caliber Electrical Engineering Manager to take full ownership of the electrical engineering team at a brand new, highly automated, one million square foot manufacturing complex. This facility produces a wide variety of food and processing equipment and is equipped with cutting-edge robotics, automation, and complex electrical infrastructure that demands top-tier engineering talent to keep it running and support ongoing expansions and system designs.
This is a newly created role built to meet the growing volume and complexity of electrical projects across the facility. It is a hands-on leadership position, not a desk job. You will manage an supervisor and a controls engineer directly, with indirect oversight of a team of electricians. The right person brings both the technical depth to be the most capable person in the room on electrical systems and the leadership presence to develop and hold a team accountable.
About the Company
This is a large, well-established food equipment manufacturing company with over 70 years in business and a reputation for stability, quality, and long-term investment in its people and facilities. The new Bedford Park facility represents the next chapter of that growth, a state-of-the-art, highly automated complex built for scale and complexity. The culture values hands-on leadership, technical depth, and people who take ownership of their work and see it through from design to execution.
Responsibilities
  • Own the full electrical project lifecycle from initial design, scoping, and budgeting through installation, documentation, and closeout
  • Design and implement electrical and control systems for process equipment, packaging equipment, palletizing robots, and facility infrastructure
  • Support and maintain high-voltage infrastructure
  • Act as the primary technical resource for production departments, providing expert-level troubleshooting for electrical, PLC, and control system failures
  • Troubleshoot MCCs, control panels, SCADA systems, and automated manufacturing systems
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of plant electrical schematics and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, Chicago Electrical Code, FDA, and SQF standards
  • Prepare electrical capital budgets, material specifications, RFQs, and BOMs for vendor bidding
Requirements
  • BS in Electrical Engineering is required or an equivalent of 10+ years of hands-on electrical project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing electrical engineering experience; must have design, controls and project engineering experience
  • Hands-on electrical design required including drawings, system scoping, sizing, and calculations
  • Engineering leadership experience is a plus
  • PLC and controls familiarity required; must be able to hook up, program, and troubleshoot at a working level
  • Experience with high-voltage systems including 13.8kV, 480V distribution, MCCs, and control panels
  • Electrical license or PE license is a plus but not required
  • Must have manufacturing experience from any industry, prefer foods, baking, chemicals, packaging, or other complex industrial environments
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70, Chicago Electrical Code, FDA, and SQF standards preferred
Compensation and Benefits
  • Comprehensive benefits package at a very low cost and strong 401K program
  • Stable, well-established operation with a strong and tenured engineering team
  • High-visibility leadership role with real impact on a large, complex facility
This is a role for someone who is technically elite, leads with confidence, and wants to run an electrical engineering function at a facility that demands the best. If that describes you, apply now and let's talk.
