The Role

Stratus has recently partnered with Page Interworks and we’re hiring an Electrical Designer. In this role you will plan, design and create electrical systems for commercial, industrial and institutional facilities such as offices, retail spaces, distribution centers and hotels. Designs may consist of fire alarm, site lighting, energy modeling, interior lighting, prototype development and security. Completes other work as directed by team leader.


Responsibilities

  • Plan layout of project and organize design information on sheets in logical manner with direction from an engineer, project manager or more experienced designer.
  • Determine local code and jurisdictional requirements for a project and/or consult with client. Consultation may be by phone, email or on site.
  • Coordinate with and consult with other disciplines, designers or engineers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
  • May train and direct activities of CAD technicians engaged in preparing drawings.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, project material submittals, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting design.
  • Identify discrepancies in an architectural base plan as it relates to and affects the electrical drawings.
  • Using a previously developed criteria set of plans, create and/or replicate detailed design drawings and specifications for electrical systems using CAD/BIM software with guidance from an engineer or project manager.
  • Modify and revise designs based on plan review comments to correct operating deficiencies and reduce construction problems.
  • Update previously developed criteria plans based on direction from others in and out of the office.
  • Collaborate with engineers or design manager to ensure design meets public safety, client needs and applicable codes.
  • Complete or assist with site observation before, during and after construction as may be required to verify system compliance with systems, plans and specifications.
  • Quality Control Analysis - Review and analyze each design online and in hard copy format to identify deficiencies to be marked up and corrected as directed by supervision.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor or Associates degree in relevant field
  • 1-3 years of design (CAD) experience in an engineering environment


Preferred

  • Eligibility to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
