Work-study or student positions are specifically intended for students, so if you are not a student with 6 or more credits in a semester you are not eligible to apply for the positions. To be eligible for a work-study position, you must be a recipient of work-study through Financial Aid.

Job Summary

This is a paid position through work-study or student employment and allows students to grow in leadership, professional, business and soft skills. At the Wausau campus, the Campus Store is the one-stop shop for NTC apparel & gear, textbooks, school supplies, backpacks, computer & phone accessories, gifts and program supplies including scrubs and uniforms. Positions in these areas are paid an hourly rate of $14.00.

Application Information

While there may not be an immediate need for a student employee in every area, Northcentral Technical College (NTC) accepts applications regardless, in order to create a pool for when there may be a need. Upon successful submission of your application, you will be considered for future part-time student employee opportunities and your application will be on file as a potential candidate who could possibly fill a position if or when the need arises.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Greet students/customers
  • Assist students with textbook information and purchases, provide exceptional customer service, operate a cash register, and maintain sales floor.
  • Receive, price, stock, straighten, organize, and display merchandise.
  • Pick, process, and package web orders, answer phone calls.
  • Miscellaneous clerical and other duties as assigned.
  • Students enrolled in courses related to business, marketing, accounting, graphic communication may be eligible for internships and/or tasks related to their field of study.

Semester Store Hours:

Monday 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Tuesday 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Wednesday 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Thursday 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Saturday CLOSED

Sunday CLOSED

*Occasional Saturday hours are from 8:00AM - 12:00PM

Positions in the Campus Store will report to Assistant Manager, Campus Store

NOTE:

It is in your best interest to apply for more than one position, in the event other candidates are already being considered for this position, you want to leave your options open for other positions. Student and Federal Work-Study employees may work up to 20 hours per week total.

You will need to re-apply at the beginning of each semester for work-study/student positions due to any school or work-study changes that may have occurred changing your status. Each semester, the applications for each position will be refreshed with new applications of those who re-apply to keep the applicant pool current for supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Must be an active student enrolled in at least 6 credits. Please note that students are not permitted to work in Federal Work-Study positions during scheduled class times.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable working individually and in team environments, strong leadership skills, be comfortable meeting new people, have a desire to promote NTC on campus and in the community, typing skills and a willingness to work with people.
  • Knowledge of math.
  • Exceptional customer service skills; comfortable working with the public.
  • Ability to work with diverse clientele and co-workers.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office products, email.
  • Ability to learn store inventory control and/or accounting software and accounts receivable cashiering.
  • Ability to learn and apply Campus Store policies and procedures.
