We are recruiting a Senior Manager, Study Data Architecture to work on-site at our Maple Grove, MN location. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient database configuration activities that support clinical trial execution and data collection objectives. The Senior Manager is accountable for the overall quality, consistency, and timely delivery of study database configuration activities across the clinical development portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, data standards, and study execution timelines. The Senior Manager drives the implementation and governance of database standards, conventions, and processes across studies and programs while ensuring alignment with organizational data strategies. This position partners cross-functionally with Clinical Data Management, Clinical Data Analytics, Data Systems, and Study Management to ensure timely database delivery, consistency in data collection, and seamless support for downstream analytics and reporting.
What You'll Work On
Leadership and People Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team which fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Establish team goals, performance expectations, and development plans aligned with departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Provide oversight of resource allocation, workload management, and capacity planning to support study and portfolio priorities.

Study Database Management Oversight
  • Accountable for the overall performance, quality, and timely delivery of study database configuration activities across the clinical development portfolio, proactively identifying risks, resolving resource constraints, and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of clinical study database builds across multiple studies and therapeutic areas.
  • Provide strategic guidance and issue resolution for complex database design and implementation challenges.

Standards, Governance, and Data Strategy
  • Establish and enforce database development standards, conventions, and best practices across all clinical programs, ensuring compatibility with analytical tools, reporting platforms, and internal applications.
  • Ensure clinical databases are aligned and mapped to organizational common data models to support downstream analytics, reporting, and regulatory submission requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardization, operational efficiency, quality, scalability, and automation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Ensure direct reports effectively collaborate with cross-functional study teams and internal stakeholders to support study execution and data collection objectives.
  • Oversee participation in protocol review, study planning, and study startup activities to ensure data collection requirements are accurately translated into database design and configuration.

Strategic Initiatives
  • Contribute to departmental strategy and long-range planning related to database standards, technologies, operating models, and organizational capabilities.
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for study database management capabilities, including standards governance, technology adoption, process optimization, and organizational scalability to support the evolving needs of the clinical development portfolio.
  • Champion the adoption of organizational common data models and standardized data collection frameworks to improve consistency, reusability, and analytical readiness across the clinical development portfolio.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree
  • 7 years' related experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science information systems or related field or an advanced degree
  • 8+ years' years' experience in data, systems or operations within healthcare, life sciences, clinical research, regulated industries or related environments
  • 3+ years' people leadership experience with demonstrated success developing, coaching and retaining high performing teams.
  • Experience leading teams responsible for data collection systems, database configuration, data operations, business systems, or comparable operational functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex work portfolios, priorities, resources, and competing stakeholder needs
  • Experience implementing standards, processes, quality controls, and operational best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, and data lifecycle concepts.
  • Experience working with common data models, data standards, or enterprise reporting and analytics teams.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through organizational, process, or technology change while maintaining employee engagement and performance.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
