Description:

The Marketing & Communications Student Creative Assistant is a hands-on, career-focused position for a Federal Work Study eligible student interested in marketing, communications, social media, photography, videography, graphic design, and/or creative media.


This is real-world creative work, not busywork. Student workers will contribute to projects that support the Stephens College brand and communicate the student experience to prospective students, current students, alumni, families, and the broader community.


A major goal of this position is to help students leave with more than work-study hours, they should leave with experience they can use after graduation. The position is designed to help students build professional skills, develop a portfolio, gain experience working with a creative team, and explore careers in marketing and communications.

What You’ll Do:

Social Media & Content

  • Help create content for Stephens College social media channels.
  • Assist with developing social media ideas, captions, short-form video, Reels, Stories, and other digital content.
  • Attend campus events and capture timely, authentic content.
  • Learn how social content is planned, created, scheduled, published, and evaluated.
  • Identify student stories, campus moments, events, and people that could become compelling content.

Photography & Videography

  • Photograph and/or video campus events, students, faculty, programs, and everyday Stephens life.
  • Assist with planned photo and video shoots.
  • Capture both polished marketing content and authentic behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Learn professional practices for lighting, composition, framing, audio, file organization, and visual storytelling.
  • Help select, organize, edit, and prepare images and video for use across marketing channels.

Graphic Design

  • Create graphics and visual assets for social media, digital communications, events, and marketing projects.
  • Work within the Stephens College brand standards while developing creative concepts.
  • Assist with layouts, presentations, promotional materials, digital graphics, and other design projects.
  • Gain experience receiving creative direction, responding to feedback, revising work, and preparing final files for production.

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist with real campaigns and projects from concept through completion.
  • Help gather information, interview students or campus community members, and identify potential stories.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming and project planning.
  • Learn how different pieces of a marketing campaign work together across print, digital, social, web, email, photography, and video.
  • Collaborate with professional marketing and communications staff and campus partners.
Requirements:

We are looking for a student who is:

  • Creative, curious, and willing to try new things.
  • Interested in marketing, communications, design, photography, video, social media, or related fields.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is needed to create portfolio content.
  • Reliable and able to meet deadlines.
  • Willing to take initiative and pitch ideas.
  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a team.
  • Open to feedback and interested in improving their work.
  • Detail-oriented while still thinking creatively.

Students will gain tangible experience and work samples they can take into internships, graduate programs, and future careers.
