Job description

By Light Professional IT Services LLC readies warfighters and federal agencies with technology and systems engineered to connect, protect, and prepare individuals and teams for whatever comes next. Headquartered in McLean, VA, By Light supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide. Position Overview By Light is seeking an Audio Visual Installation and Maintenance Engineer and Operator to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois. The USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract is intended to provide strategic, technical, and program management guidance and support services to facilitate the operations and modernization of the combatant command's infrastructure, systems, and applications. This support will be provided to the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6). The successful candidate will provide their Audio Visual expertise to the Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and Audiovisual team providing all facets of customer service including installing, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operating of audiovisual systems and video conference and briefing support facilities Responsibilities * Duties include on-site installation, termination, and testing of audio, video, control and network wires, cables, and equipment within professional audiovisual systems. These systems include video projectors, flat panel displays, cameras, screens, sound reinforcement equipment, and control systems for commercial audiovisual installations.
* Support turnover of the completed installations to the Government to include acceptance testing and training
* Assist the AV / VTC Install and Maintenance Team to fully commission and maintain installed systems
* Assist other team members as required to provide the customer with the superior level of support they have come to expect, and deserve, from the SAIC AV/VTC Engineering, Installation, and Maintenance Team
* Technical subject matter expertise in the planning and execution of IT solutions to support customer requirements
* Demonstrate an understanding of how to configure and troubleshoot Voice and VTC networks
* Demonstrated experience with major audio/visual installs and configurations
* Experience with Crestron system installations and troubleshooting
* Experience with U.S. Department of Defense security requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures
* Collaborate with others to isolate and resolve complex audiovisual system problems
* Candidate must be willing to work safely and with an attention to work site cleanliness both during installation and post installation. Required Experience/Qualifications * BA/BS
* Seven (7) or more years of experience of relevant electronic systems installation and maintenance experience
* Ability to read and understand block diagrams, drawings, and electrical schematics
* Must be adept in the use of electronic test equipment, small hand tools (wire strippers, soldering irons, video crimp tools, etc.), electric hand tools, and copper and fiber termination equipment
* Basic carpentry skills as required to install speakers, mounts, and low voltage infrastructure
* Ability to proficiently perform basic computer operations including knowledge of MS Office products
* Must be a team player willing to assist other team members as necessary to satisfy customer requirements in a timely manner
* Must be able to work in a dynamic environment under potentially stressful situations while remaining calm
* Must be able to accommodate a flexible and varied work schedule to include occasional early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends
* Ability to fully commission video and audio conferencing systems in IP based environments Special Requirements/Security Clearance * Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility Physical Demands * Must be able to routinely lift at least 80 pounds unassisted
* The installation tech will be required to perform physical duties such as working from ladders and lifting installation equipment and material
