Job description

PRN EMT โ€“ Chicago, IL (River West Construction Site) Flexible, As-Needed Scheduling

Ramp Health is seeking experienced, proactive PRN EMTs to support our Medical Response Team at a large construction project in the River West area of Chicago. This role is ideal for EMTs who enjoy an occupational health and safety environment and want to make a daily impact on worker wellbeingโ€”without the commitment of a full-time schedule.

As a PRN EMT, you will respond to medical incidents onsite and support a strong safety culture through active engagement with crews when not handling injuries.

Key Responsibilities Emergency Response & Care
  • First on Scene: Respond immediately to any onsite injury, illness, or medical concern.
  • Preparedness: Keep a fully stocked quick-response bag accessible at all times.
  • Triage & Assessment: Provide first aid, escalate care when needed, and determine whether referral to Occupational Health or an ER is appropriate.
  • Escort Support: Accompany employees to external medical providers when further evaluation is required.
  • Follow-Up Care: Check in with employees post-incident to ensure compliance with work restrictions and progress toward recovery.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintain clear, detailed logs of all incidents for reporting and compliance.
Proactive Health, Wellness & Safety Engagement

This is not a sit-and-wait position.

When not providing direct care, you will be active and visible on the jobsite:

  • Promote safe work habits and injury-prevention practices through daily interactions.
  • Conduct walk-throughs to observe work zones and support safety reinforcement.
  • Talk with crew members about hydration, fatigue, PPE use, and general wellbeing.
  • Partner with safety leadership to support a strong, collaborative safety culture.
  • Provide reminders and education on lifting techniques, early reporting, stretching, and more.

Your presence should encourage workers to approach you earlyโ€”with concerns, discomfort, or questions.

Qualifications
  • Active Illinois EMT (EMT or EMT-B) certification
  • Experience in emergency care or occupational response
  • Ability to stay calm and think clearly in high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Comfort working in a construction-site setting
  • A proactive, approachable mindset and willingness to engage with crews
Scheduling

This is a PRN (as-needed) position with flexible scheduling. Coverage is needed Monday through Saturday, and we will work with candidates to create schedules that meet both site needs and your availability.

Why Join Ramp Health?
  • Work onsite in a dynamic construction environment
  • Make a direct, visible impact on worker health and safety
  • Build trust and strong relationships with crews
  • Support an innovative occupational health model backed by a dedicated Ramp Health team

If you are a skilled, engagement-focused EMT who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, we encourage you to apply.
