What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a work order coordinator?

To thrive as a Work Order Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in facilities management or maintenance operations, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant certification. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), work order tracking software, and Microsoft Office is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities help you coordinate efficiently with teams and vendors. What is a work order?

Work orders are formal requests, usually documented, that authorize and track maintenance, repair, or service tasks within an organization. They specify the details of the job to be completed, such as the location, required materials, deadlines, and responsible personnel. Work orders help ensure that tasks are completed efficiently, properly documented, and billed correctly if necessary. They are commonly used in industries like facilities management, manufacturing, and field service operations.
