EXPERIENCED ENERGY CONSULTANT

The Experienced Energy Consultant Role
We are seeking talent with energy consulting expertise to join our Energy Practice. Experienced energy consultants are expected to have the leadership, project management, and client relationship skills necessary to successfully manage a variety of project types and sizes.
Travel, at the discretion of the client, may be necessary.
The Project Team
You will work on small project teams to identify, and often implement, solutions to client problems and challenges. Project teams are typically composed of three or four consultants and a partner. Working closely with experienced ScottMadden consultants and partners will maximize your learning and enable meaningful project contributions from your very first assignment.

The Qualifications
Our ideal candidate is well rounded and possesses the following:
  • Strong project and resource management skills
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and key factors driving change in the current environment
  • Experience in the creation of project related deliverables such as process maps, project plans, change management assessments, implementation plans, communication plans, and financial models
  • Ability to contribute to the Energy Practice (methodologies, service offerings, team development, client relationships), and drive leading practices into the organization
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Enthusiasm and initiative
  • Creativity (necessary for the development of custom solutions)
  • Focused, strategic, and critical thinking
  • Ability to engage with people at all levels of an organization
  • Service-oriented and client-focused

The Requirements
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree
  • Energy consulting experience in any of the following areas: generation, renewables, transmission, distribution, natural gas, or grid edge (3+ years preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project and Outlook)

Position Level
The experience requirements outlined above represent a baseline for consideration for an experienced consultant position at ScottMadden. We recognize that candidates bring different combinations of experience, expertise, and capabilities. Candidates with more extensive relevant experience will be considered for a more senior level within the organization, with the specific level determined based on interview performance, qualifications and overall fit.
The Location
Ideally, we are looking for candidates that can work out of one of our offices two or more days a week.
