Job description

Job Title: Health Systems Specialist
Department: Environmental Health & Safety Team
Shift: Core Business hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Direct Report: Health & Environmental Unit Manager
Type: Exempt; Full-time

About the position

We are looking for a Specialist to ensure technical and behavioral compliance with health, and safety laws and regulations and drive activities for a safe and healthy workplace.

Responsibilities are:
  • Conduct First Aid/AED cabinet inspections and ensure all equipment is stocked and functional
  • Administer Workers' Compensation claims and the Return to Work/Light Duty Program
  • Conduct Industrial Hygiene inspections (Air, Noise, Radiation) and ensure OSHA/TOSHA compliance
  • Conduct Ergonomic Assessments and Annual Hearing Tests
  • Work with the Program Coordinator to update and implement health-related policies
  • Track all health-related metrics in EHS software
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance regarding information sharing and recordkeeping
  • Work with the Program Coordinator to develop and conduct health-related training through in-person and LMS methods
  • Ensure Bloodborne Pathogen compliance
  • Participate in Gemba walks throughout the facility
  • Administer health-related KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Actively participate in the design, setup, and implementation of new health equipment and processes
  • Administer the site-wide Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace Program
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements are:

Education:

  • (Required) high school diploma or general education equivalent
  • (Preferred) bachelor's degree; occupational safety and health, environmental safety and health, health care administration or related field

Experience:

  • (Required) 2+ years of health care administration or industrial hygiene

Language:

  • (Required) good command of written and spoken English

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  • Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe and security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Active Listening & Speaking - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times; talking to others to convey information effectively
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
  • Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds
