WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

RBC is looking to hire a Senior IT Scrum Master. The ideal candidate has experience running medium-to-complex agile development projects where they have driven constant engagement between teams and stakeholders ensuring product quality, value and technical delivery. You will be responsible for facilitating backlog refinements, increment planning, retrospectives, roadmap creation and scrum of scrums. You will lead teams in identifying impediments, risks, removing roadblocks and helping drive program-level continuous improvement.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Initiative Delivery:

  • Facilitate medium-to-high complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release and ongoing production support, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project planning and kick-off, sprint cadence, release and deployment planning, both technical and non-technical activities

  • Project management related deliverables such as: creating and managing delivery roadmaps, identifying and managing delivery risks; tracking and reporting financials for the team; navigating and identifying shared services required by the team in the delivery of its objectives

Team facilitation (medium to large size teams):

  • Facilitate discussions leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team

  • Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, problem-solving, and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges

  • Champions ways-of-working by working towards business transformation and supporting change management across the teams. Creating a trusting and safe team environment

  • With the assistance from agile coaches and the Agile COE, provide proactive coaching to the team and recommend continuous improvement of processes to optimize team productivity

Cross-functional Communication:

  • Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes; report team progress and accomplishment up and across; facilitate status updates, product demos and retrospectives; ensure timely project and financial reporting

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • 3+ years as a scrum master (medium-to-large scale initiatives) in a dependent multi-agile team environment, using influence to facilitate outcomes, including practical experience facilitating all key Agile ceremonies and practices

  • 5+ years of experience in software development and/or project management and/or business (system) analysis or other relevant professional experience

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • Advanced knowledge of Atlassian products (specifically Jira and Confluence).

  • Certified Scrum Master / Agile Practitioner

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation

  • Safe training and experience
