Position Overview
We are seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to provide peer-based recovery support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges. The CPSS uses their lived experience in recovery to build trust, inspire hope, and support individuals in achieving their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use personal recovery experience to build rapport and model hope.
  • Support individuals in developing self-advocacy, coping, and independent living skills.
  • Assist with navigation of community resources, treatment providers, and support systems.
  • Promote recovery principles, self-determination, and empowerment.
  • Participate in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and ongoing safety planning as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with Medicaid and DHHS standards.
  • Uphold professional boundaries, ethics, and peer support values.

Qualifications

  • Current NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification.
  • Lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Valid NC drivers license and reliable transportation.
