We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Credentialing Specialist to support provider enrollment, credentialing, and compliance activities. This role is responsible for ensuring physicians and healthcare providers are properly credentialed with insurance networks, hospitals, and regulatory organizations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced with credentialing processes within healthcare organizations.
This is an independent contractor role ideal for a credentialing professional who can manage credentialing timelines, maintain compliance standards, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle credentialing and recredentialing process for healthcare providers.
- Prepare and submit credentialing applications to insurance carriers, hospitals, and government payers (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
- Track application status and follow up with payers to ensure timely processing.
- Maintain accurate provider records and credentialing documentation.
- Monitor license expirations, certifications, malpractice insurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain credentialing databases and provider files.
- Coordinate with providers to gather required documents and resolve application issues.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and payer credentialing standards.
- Assist with audits and maintain credentialing reports.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of healthcare credentialing experience
- Experience credentialing physicians or healthcare providers
- Familiarity with CAQH, PECOS, NPI registry, and payer enrollment systems
- Strong understanding of insurance payer enrollment and provider credentialing processes
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple credentialing timelines
- Experience with credentialing software or healthcare systems preferred
Preferred
- Experience working with medical groups, clinics, or healthcare organizations
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid enrollment processes
- CPCS certification or similar credentialing certification (preferred but not required)
